One of this fork’s all time favourites – Soft Shell Crab Po Boys – cost US$ 12 at Jazz Fest 2014.
There I said it and I’m over it.
First year it was $5. Some Krewe d’Agave old timers will probably mumble a yarn about how it was only $2.50 the first year they attended Jazz Fest.
But this fork is very hungry so who cares?
I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into this classic New Orleans’ Po Boy and smile while tarter and chilli sauce ran down my face.
Its crunchy exterior and soft flesh combines with salty sweet sauces to deliver an oral orgasm. Excellence always comes with a cost right?
One group up in arms about the increase was a krewe of Jazz Fest ‘Indians’.
One might (unconfirmed) even briefly held up paper napkins stating their displeasure with the pricey po boys.
These were quickly torn up, numbers were taken as they got in line with the rest of their mates.
Wearing all that heavy gear shaking in the noon day sun is hot work, and even they have to eat too!
