The French Quarter’s Oceana Grill is smack on Bourbon and Conti Streets, so much easier to find than say Adolfo’s on Frenchman Street.
The restaurant also fits nicely into several Krewe d’Agave core criteria.
They pour Bloody Marys (pretty good ones) and they serve their entire dinner menu until 1am, right when we need a righteous feed.
On its Oceana Grill website, the restaurant claims it serves up “some of New Orleans’ best crab cakes”. This fork found it absolutely on the mark, and she is considered a true crab cake purist (‘crab cakes come in pairs, dear!’).
So when the order arrived the somewhat sloppy plate presentation was rather alarming.
Had a high school cafeteria worker subbed for a friend and used a larger than normal ladle to cover these cakes like a tsunami?
Anyway not to worry, they came out piping hot, crisp on the outside with a fresh fluffy crab centre that was to die for.
The tsunami of extra crawfish and mushroom cream sauce was awesome too, and not a drop was left by this clean plate club.
And remember these crab cakes come with Running Fork’s kind of special promise:
“Oceana Grill guarantees fast delivery to anyone living, working, or staying and playing in the French Quarter.”
Fork yeah!
